Play in the Commons, Brooklyn NY
Public space and public health are crucially interdependent. Parks have been a lifesaver for many working class kids who have struggled with school dissolution during Covid. The park as the commons provides a place to gather, rest, decompress, and exchange- outdoors. During the pandemic, these places became classrooms. They provide access to a source of income for many undocumented people, of which the US government has failed to acknowledge an essential dependence upon. Parks connect us, and their role has been vital for so many during this difficult year.
